The temporal deforestation rate is monitored using space-based observations as it is causing serious climate change. Research focuses on the retrieval of Above Ground biomass, Stem Volume and Tree height in tropical forest of India. The Landsat IV shows the field locations of sample plots laid for the validation.
Fully polarimetric ALOS PALSAR data gave higher penetration whereas RADARSAT-2 real-time data result at acquisition. POLInSAR derived coherence based semi-empirical modelling technique was implemented on both the datasets to retrieve the forest biophysical parameters. The Inverted Water Cloud Model depicts Tree height with much higher accuracy using POLInSAR coherence-based semi-empirical modelling approach.
